“Three-times arrested for illegally distilling prohibition-era bathtub gin, our deceptively charming grandmother Lucille Golec was a Polish emigre’, moving straight to Detroit Michigan in 1920 where her days were officially spent on the assembly line at Chrysler. Her husband Frank, also from Poland. was arrested for running an illegal gambling operation in the basement, where Lucy Golec’s stiff libations assisted in an easy transfer of funds from Grandpa Frank’s unwary and unwitting victims towards the well-stacked house: consisting of weighted dice, marked cards, and an artfully unbalanced roulette wheel. Our 5-year old mother Sally was a willing accomplice, serving her mother Lucy’s free-flowing cocktails and sandwiches, along with bootleg cigarettes and cigars.  Along with scrubbing the sidewalk on her hands and knees, Grandma Golec was an avid rose gardener.  Fortunately the familial crime streak ended with grandson Mark Metz, who sought to redeem the family name with a lifetime of service as a registered nurse. “

Distilled with local botanicals, this prohibition style gin was created in honor of Grandma Golec and other brave

immigrants that have defied the odds in pursuit of freedom and prosperity.

Tasting Notes:

Aroma - Lemon and pine, with subtle grass and an orange sweetness

Taste - Bright at first, Lemon meringue and pepper, then hints of mint and tea, followed by fresh orange pith and finishing dry with sweet citrus and quiet vanilla
